Evony Answers, Series A, B & C: Lead (Primary) Army General Rankings

Updated: Jul 3

TABLE OF CONTENTS

WELCOME

Welcome to Evony Answers. Army Generals are a great place to start researching because that's where the most serious errors can be made in Evony. Investing too many hard earned items in the wrong Army General, can be an error that's very costly to fix.

See below for links to discussion on Runestones and Blood of Ares (two of the most difficult items to acquire in Evony).

INTRODUCTION

When these rankings were first published there were no comprehensive Evony Army General Rankings anywhere else. Other rankings were either incomplete or didn't include any information about relative strength when compared to other Army Generals in the same category.

The EvonyAnswers (EvAns) Attribute Ranking System is geared towards the 99% of players that are not Very Heavy or Crazy Heavy Spenders.

If you are in the Evony 1%, the Attribute Rankings are probably NOT the best for you, you should primarily be using the SUMMARY Rankings.

METHODOLOGIES

Attribute Ranking Methodology

In the EvAns Attribute Ranking System, there's a multiplier for each Attribute. All the multipliers are applied the same way to all Army General Attributes in each specific category.

Attribute Categories:

  • Basic Attributes Score - Leadership, Attack, Defense, & Politics.

  • Base Skill Score - Also known as the "Built-In" Skill Score.

  • Four (4) Skill Book Score - For the Lead General's Best four (4) Possible Skill Books.

  • Covenant Score - As appropriate for that Specific Ranking (i.e. 6, 4 or 2 Covenants)

  • Specialties Score - As appropriate for that Specific Ranking (i.e. 4 Yellow, 3 Orange, or 3 Purple)

  • Ascending Enhancement Score - only added for the Ascending Enhancement Rankings.

  • Skin Score - If applicable and only added for the Ascending Enhancement Rankings.

Development Levels

All Lead General Development Levels include: Basic Attributes Score, Base Skill Score, and Four (4) Skill Book Score.

For the Attribute Methodology, there are four (4) different Development Levels as follows:

  • Red: Maximum (10-Star) Ascending Enhancements, six (6) Covenants, four (4) Yellow Specialties, and Skins

  • Yellow: Six (6) Covenants and four (4) Yellow Specialties

  • Orange: Four (4) Covenants and three (3) Orange Specialties

  • Purple: Two (2) Covenants and three (3) Purple Specialties

Please check out the article below for a more detailed explanation:

Summary Ranking Methodology

If you are in the Evony 99%, the Attribute Rankings are probably the better for you.

The EvonyAnswers (EvAns) Summary Ranking System is geared towards the 1% of players that are at the very top of the Evony "ladder", they are most likely Very Heavy or Crazy Heavy Spenders.

You're probably in the Evony 1%, if you:

  • Are VIP 18 or above.

  • Have eight (8) or more Dragons.

  • Have opened Level 5 of the Dragon Cliff.

  • Have three (3) or more complete sets of Civilization Gear.

  • You play battlefield every week and your Alliance is typically in the top 20 of your Continent.

  • You play battlefield every week and your Alliance has four (4) or more Very Heavy or Crazy Heavy Spenders.

LEAD GENERAL RANKINGS

Series A, B & C

The list of eleven (11) Army General Categories below is roughly in order of importance, based on a defensively focused keep.

Most people would probably tell you to move Ranged Generals to the top (for better Offense) and move In-City Defense (Main Wall) Generals & Subordinate City PvP Generals (Mayors) down a notch. Or possibly, to switch Ranged Generals and In-City Defense (Main Wall) Generals.

Part 1 - In-City Defense (Main Wall) Lead PvP Generals

Part 2 - Subordinate City PvP Generals (Mayors)

Part 3 - Ranged Lead PvP Generals

Part 4 - Mounted Lead PvP Generals

Part 5 - Mounted Lead PvM Pushing Generals

Part 6 - Ground Lead PvP Generals

Part 7 - Mounted Lead PvM Treasure Generals

Part 8 - Resource Gathering Generals

Part 9 - Duty Officer Generals

Part 10 - Siege Lead PvP Generals

Part 11 - Peace-Time Generals

OTHER RESOURCES

Good Information Resources

In addition to these lists, please look at other lists and do your own research, so you can make up your own mind. After all, this is only one person’s opinion.

Other Good Evony Information Resources:

DEVELOPING SPECIALTIES

Developing Army General Specialties and Runestone Chests

The biggest mistake that can be made in Evony is taking the wrong Army General to four (4) maximum level (4-Yellow) Specialties. Be VERY CAREFUL about which generals you decide to take to 4-Yellow Specialties.

Please check out the article below for more information on:

DEVELOPING ASCENDING ENHANCEMENTS

Developing Army General Ascending Enhancement (Awakened)

The 2nd biggest mistake that can be made in Evony is taking the wrong Army General to ten (10) Stars or maximum Ascending Enhancements. Be VERY CAREFUL about which generals you decide to take to ten (10) Stars.

Please check out the article below for more information on:

DEVELOPING COVENANTS

Developing Army General Covenants

Currently there are fifteen (15) Army Generals with Covenants:

  1. Napoleon (Prime)

  2. Andre Massena

  3. John Hunyadi

  4. Marcus Agrippa

  5. Suchet

  6. Sweyn Forkbeard

  7. Mu Guiying

  8. Jayavarman II

  9. Beowulf

  10. Godfrey of Bouillon

  11. Isaac Brock

  12. Gunther

  13. Melisande

  14. Frigg

  15. Hestia

Covenants work on both Lead and Assistant Generals, and provide a significant boost over Army General that do not have Covenants, especially when they are used as Assistants.

There are six (6) levels of Covenants with the following requirements:

Level Covenant Stones Minimum Combined

Attribute Points

1 50 10,000

2 50 12,000

3 50 14,000

4 50 16,000

5 50 19,500

6 50 22,500

Total 300
